The Southern Heritage & Wine Route: Dubrovnik & Korčula Exploration
South Dalmatia Yacht Charter Itinerary
South Dalmatia offers a sophisticated blend of timeless aristocratic heritage, pristine island national parks, and an elite wine culture. Departing from the monumental stone walls of Dubrovnik, this seven-day round-trip voyage charts a course through a sun-drenched archipelago steeped in history, making it an exceptional choice for travelers seeking a more refined, unhurried pace.
The itinerary focuses on rich cultural immersion and tranquil, scenic sailing. You will glide past the lush, olive-fringed Elaphiti Islands, drop anchor in the deeply forested saltwater lakes of Mljet National Park, and step onto the medieval stone streets of Korčula—a mini-Dubrovnik legendary for its fortified architecture and indigenous Pošip white wines. The journey also explores the rugged Pelješac Peninsula, a global haven for bold red wines and world-renowned oyster farms.
Beautifully suited for either a sleek motor yacht or a luxury catamaran, this route offers comfortable cruising legs highly sheltered by dramatic coastlines. It effortlessly combines the grandeur of ancient maritime republics with hidden, exclusive bays that remain entirely inaccessible to the land-bound traveler, delivering the quintessential private charter experience.
Day 1: Dubrovnik to Elaphiti Islands (Lopud / Šipan)
Nautical Miles: 9+
Travel Time: 45 - 60 mins
Your southern Adriatic journey begins at the luxury docks of Dubrovnik. After settling into your stateroom and meeting your dedicated crew, your yacht slips away from the mainland and heads northwest toward the Elaphiti archipelago. This small cluster of islands served as the historic summer retreat for Dubrovnik’s aristocracy, and as soon as you drop anchor, it is easy to see why.
Depending on the winds and your preference for the afternoon, your captain will anchor near the car-free island of Lopud or the peaceful, olive-lined bays of Šipan. Lopud boasts the rare, sandy arc of Šunj Beach—perfect for a relaxed afternoon swim and trying out the yacht’s water toys. In the evening, enjoy a sunset cocktail on the sun deck before your chef serves your first spectacular al fresco dinner under the stars.
Route Highlights
Departing the historic, bustling marina of Dubrovnik.
Swimming off the rare, golden sands of Šunj Beach on Lopud.
Sunset cocktails on the aft deck in a secluded island bay.
Aerial view of Elaphiti Islands near Dubrovnik
Day 2: Elaphiti Islands to Pomena (Mljet National Park)
Nautical Miles: 20
Travel Time: 1.5 – 2 hrs
Enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast as your yacht cruises along the spectacular, densely forested coastline of Mljet. Often called the greenest island in Croatia, the western half of Mljet is a protected National Park, defined by its untouched natural beauty and two emerald-colored saltwater lakes.
Your captain will dock in the small, sheltered harbor of Pomena, which acts as the gateway to the park. Step off the yacht and take a leisurely walk or rent electric bicycles to explore the shaded paths circling the lakes. In the center of the Great Lake lies the Islet of St. Mary, home to a remarkably preserved 12th-century Benedictine monastery. After exploring, return to the yacht for a late afternoon swim and a quiet, highly scenic dinner in the bay.
Route Highlights
Cruising alongside the rugged, deeply forested coastline of Mljet.
Biking the shaded paths around the pristine saltwater lakes.
Exploring the 12th-century Benedictine monastery on St. Mary's Isle.

Day 3: Pomena to Korčula Town
Nautical Miles: 14
Travel Time: 1 – 1.5 hrs
Today, your vessel crosses the Pelješac channel toward the island of Korčula. The approach by sea is nothing short of spectacular: Korčula Town sits on a small peninsula, tightly encircled by imposing medieval stone walls and towers. Often referred to as "Little Dubrovnik," it is famously known as the alleged birthplace of the legendary explorer Marco Polo.
Your yacht will dock just steps away from the old town gates. Spend your afternoon wandering the unique, fishbone-patterned streets designed centuries ago to protect the town from harsh winter winds while allowing the cool summer breeze to circulate. Korčula is also renowned for its indigenous white wine, Pošip. Have your crew arrange an exclusive tasting at a local boutique wine bar before dining at a Michelin-recommended restaurant overlooking the channel.
Route Highlights
Docking just steps from the monumental medieval walls of Korčula Town.
Walking the ingenious, fishbone-patterned stone streets.
Tasting the island's renowned, indigenous Pošip white wine.

Day 4: Korčula Town to Pelješac Peninsula
Nautical Miles: 8+
Travel Time: 45 mins
A very short, relaxed hop takes you from Korčula to the rugged shores of the Pelješac Peninsula. This dramatic stretch of mainland is the undisputed wine capital of southern Croatia, famous for producing the country’s most robust, highly prized red wines, most notably Dingač and Postup.
Because the channel between Korčula and Pelješac acts as a natural wind funnel, the afternoon is perfectly suited for launching the yacht's sailing dinghies, kiteboards, or windsurfing gear near Viganj. Alternatively, your captain can anchor in the deep, tranquil bay of Lovište for absolute privacy. In the late afternoon, take a private tender ashore for an exclusive cellar tasting at a cliffside vineyard, followed by a chef-prepared dinner on board highlighting Mali Ston oysters, a world-famous local delicacy.
Route Highlights
Enjoying thrilling water toys in the breezy, sun-drenched Pelješac channel.
Visiting an exclusive, family-run cliffside vineyard for a red wine tasting.
An intimate, chef-prepared dinner highlighting world-famous local oysters.

Day 5: Pelješac Peninsula to Šipan Island (Suđurađ)
Nautical Miles: 25
Travel Time: 2 – 2.5 hours
This morning features one of the itinerary's most beautiful cruising legs. Relax on the sundeck as your captain navigates back down the Adriatic coast, trading the rugged mountains of Pelješac for the tranquil, olive-draped landscapes of the Elaphiti archipelago once again. Your destination is Suđurađ, a sleepy, authentic fishing village on the eastern side of Šipan.
Šipan holds the Guinness World Record for the highest number of olive trees per square meter, and its landscape is dotted with elegant, abandoned 16th-century Renaissance summer manors. The bay of Suđurađ is calm, deeply sheltered, and ideal for a serene afternoon of paddleboarding or snorkeling directly from the yacht's swim platform. For dinner, experience unparalleled local hospitality at a traditional stone konoba tucked away in the olive groves.

A highly scenic, extended morning cruise down the southern Adriatic coast.
Paddleboarding through the glassy, sheltered waters of Suđurađ bay.

Before approaching the city, your yacht will drop anchor near the lush, protected sanctuary of Lokrum Island, located just a few hundred meters from the mainland. The island is entirely uninhabited by humans, populated instead by wild peacocks and framed by a beautiful botanical garden.
In the late afternoon, your captain will reposition the yacht just outside the monumental walls of Dubrovnik's Old Town. From this elite vantage point, you will have an unobstructed view of the fortress as it glows in the setting sun. Take the private tender directly into the old city port to spend your final evening walking the polished limestone streets of the Stradun, soaking in the energy of the "Pearl of the Adriatic."
