Cavtat: The Elegant Gateway to the South

Located just a few nautical miles south of Dubrovnik, Cavtat is an incredibly elegant, palm-lined town that captures the historic charm of the Konavle region. Navigating into Cavtat is straightforward and visually rewarding. The town is situated on a peninsula with two distinct bays—the main harbor and the quieter Uvala Tiha. The main harbor of Cavtat offers town quay mooring, but it can be very busy, especially in mid-summer. The Uvala Tiha bay to the north of the peninsula is a popular and well-protected alternative for swinging at anchor or utilizing mooring buoys, offering a quieter environment just a short walk from the town center.

Cavtat was originally founded by the Greeks as Epidaurum and later became a significant Roman settlement. The town is filled with cultural treasures, such as the Račić Mausoleum, which sits at the top of the peninsula's cemetery, offering one of the most breathtaking, panoramic views of the Adriatic in all of Southern Croatia.

The town also houses the Bukovac House, the former home and studio of Vlaho Bukovac, one of Croatia's most important artists.
