Cavtat: The Elegant Gateway to the South

Cavtat

Cavtat is a charter location in South Dalmatia, a yacht charter area in Croatia.

Cavtat Charter Guide

Located just a few nautical miles south of Dubrovnik, Cavtat is an incredibly elegant, palm-lined town that captures the historic charm of the Konavle region. Situated on a lush, green peninsula, it is widely considered one of the most beautiful destinations on the coast. With its grand 19th-century villas, quiet stone walkways, and a vibrant, palm-shaded promenade, Cavtat offers a sophisticated and deeply atmospheric experience for all charter visitors.

For yacht charters arriving from the south—or heading toward Dubrovnik—Cavtat is a strategic, convenient, and incredibly picturesque port of call. The harbor is well-protected and offers easy access to the town's excellent restaurants and boutique galleries. It is a perfect spot for customs clearance if arriving from Montenegro, or simply a refined, beautiful final destination before finishing your voyage in the nearby Dubrovnik region.

Cavtat Navigation

Navigating into Cavtat is straightforward and visually rewarding. The town is situated on a peninsula with two distinct bays—the main harbor and the quieter Uvala Tiha. Captains should keep a look-out for small boat traffic and potential gusts in the harbor, but generally, the approaches are deep, clear, and well-marked.

Cavtat Anchorage

The main harbor of Cavtat offers town quay mooring, but it can be very busy, especially in mid-summer. The Uvala Tiha bay to the north of the peninsula is a popular and well-protected alternative for swinging at anchor or utilizing mooring buoys, offering a quieter environment just a short walk from the town center.

Cavtat General Information

Cavtat was originally founded by the Greeks as Epidaurum and later became a significant Roman settlement. The town is filled with cultural treasures, such as the Račić Mausoleum, which sits at the top of the peninsula's cemetery, offering one of the most breathtaking, panoramic views of the Adriatic in all of Southern Croatia.

The town also houses the Bukovac House, the former home and studio of Vlaho Bukovac, one of Croatia's most important artists. Exploring Cavtat feels like wandering through an intimate, garden-like setting where every corner reveals a new, beautiful vista of the sea. It is a destination that feels deeply personal, quiet, and timeless.
